Honey, They Shrunk My Cookies!

So my spouse came home from grocery shopping the other day and I was blessed with my favorite desert cookies. When I opened the package I thought, “wow that’s a lot of cookies”. After a more careful inspection of the package I noticed that it was the Family Sized package of cookies, ah that explains it.

Have you noticed the size of your groceries lately? You know, the bags of chips the packages of cookies, frozen vegetables, and boxes of meal makers. Have they shrunk? Of course they have! They shrunk. Now we can look forward to the all new “family sized” packages that replace the once regular sized packages. So we get the regular sized package, that is now smaller than they used to be, for more money than we used to spend, and we get pitched the “family sized”, which used to be the regular size, for even more money. Are you following me?

Not only did the cookie package shrink but the cookie itself shrunk! I’m not sure if they can pull it off with veggies, but they shrunk the food itself!

Don’t think you have this consumer fooled! Since this last economic recession our cupboards have been impacted and it hasn’t stopped.

So if our economy is reportedly recovering or recovered from the recession why hasn’t our cupboards recovered and our pocket books? The food companies and other providers of goods have capitalized on our misfortune. Not good, not good at all. Especially for them.

Deception, and evil intentions won’t go unnoticed by our Creator God the Great I Am! The Savior will return, soon I believe, and set things straight. We cannot be blessed by being deceitful, neither will these people. Does God care about my little bitty cookie problem? Maybe not, but He cares about people caring about people. He cares when money becomes more important than people to these companies.

The God of the bible teaches us to be honest, to be gentle, to give rather than receive, to be patient. If you follow the ten commandments you can accomplish all of this and reap blessings and not curses.

We will always be victims of these selfish money hungry companies as long as we are in the world as it is now. If we turn to God and rely on Him then He will provide, He can multiply our food or see that we are satisfied with what we have.

I encourage you not to be discouraged by the little cookies in your cupboard. Be an example of what we are supposed to be. Be kind and gentle to your neighbors. Don’t be deceptive in your life, at home, at work, with your family and friends, it hurts people and it hurts your relationship with your Savior Jesus. If you have a business don’t rob people; don’t pinch those pennies so that you can have more. Be a blessing to your customers and I am sure your business will prosper quicker and more abundantly by doing so.

For now, I will enjoy my little shrunken cookies and hey, maybe I’ll be healthier by not eating such big cookies!
