Welcome Mat

Drive through any neighborhood in America and you will see, scattered throughout, welcome mats laying in front of entryways.  You might also see decorative welcome signs hung on doors, fences, garage doors, in flower beds and on posts.

It’s a nice gesture but, are we truly welcome?  These decorative signs give you a nice comfy feeling but are they sincere?  I always wonder what would happen if I walked up to one of these homes and walked in without knocking.  I wouldn’t be very welcomed even though they are saying welcome all over their house!  So, we are not really welcome in their homes.

Back when I was growing up and generations before me, churches would leave their doors unlocked so that people would feel welcome to go in and pray or reflect.  My mother, when she was a young girl, would go walking around town with her friend.  One day she fell and skinned her knee and was bleeding, her and her friend were close to a church.  The church was unlocked, and they went in and down in the basement was a first aid kit.  They bandaged her knee and put everything back where they found it and left the church.  They were truly welcome.

Where are you welcome?  Let me tell you.  Yeshua (Jesus), says,

John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me”.

He also says,

Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

His arms are open wide and welcoming us to Him and His way.  We can be walking away from Him in sin and turn completely around and fall into His arms; He will forgive us and welcome us into His kingdom!

Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The world doesn’t really welcome us and comfort us, and our neighbors don’t really welcome us into their homes uninvited.  Celebrities, politicians, kings, queens, and other royalty and elites are untouchable to us common folks, yet Yeshua the true King, is always available and welcoming; He has open arms for all of us.  So, if you’re feeling down and unwelcomed, if the world seems cold and impersonal run to Yeshua!  Read your bible, and talk and pray to Him.  His welcome mat is down, and His door is unlocked; go on in and visit with Him!
